Hatshepsut, opus 18 (2007-present); work in progress
OPERA in three (?) acts
The opera “Hatshepsut” has been a work in progress since 2007. It tells the story of a woman named Hatshepsut, who lived from 1508-1458 BCE. The firstborn child of a powerful pharaoh and heiress to the empire, she was betrothed to her half-brother to rule beside him as queen. However, this was not enough to satisfy her unending ambition. She eventually crowned herself Pharaoh, defying thousands of years of tradition by claiming a title that could only belong to a man.
