Harp Quintet, opus 19 (2008-24)
INSTRUMENTATION: string quartet (violin 1 & 2, viola, cello) and harp
The Harp Quintet, op 19 was originally inspired by Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro for Harp, Flute, Clarinet and String Quartet. The principle theme was inspired by a choral work I once began but never completed. In the Quintet, I explore the timbral differences between the different string instruments as the theme passes and transforms between them.
