Piano Lessons
Lessons are available in person at Symphonos Studio in North Highlands CA, or virtually on Zoom.
What you will learn:
Music theory
How to read music notation (notes, rests, symbols, and expressions)
Musical concepts (chords, scales, melody, harmony, etc.)
Technique
Mindfulness and holistic health & well-being
Posture, coordination, finger independence, and voicing
History, form, style, and performance practice of western art music (classical music) and the genres of your choice
Ear training
Listening, comprehension, and music in its historical context
Intervallic training (fifths, octaves, etc.)
What you will need:
A quiet, safe space to practice regularly
A keyboard – there are different types of keyboards
Digital (uses electricity) or acoustic (does not use electricity)
Very best is full size – 88 keys, but smaller okay to start
Look for something with “weighted keys”
Ideally includes a stand and a bench – keyboard needs to be at the right height: Arms should be in an L shape – upper arms by your sides, forearms level with keyboard, feet flat on the floor
Foot pedal, if yours didn't come with one
A device with Zoom installed & internet access (for virtual lessons)
Access to a printer or an iPad for sheet music
